1. Storage of flammable, hazardous, pressurized, or toxic materials or liquids and aerosols that may spill or burst is prohibited. Drain oil and gas from all machines small or large prior to storage.
2. Fill containers to capacity or fill extra spaces with packaging material.
3. Stack boxes on dressers and use drawers to store delicate items.
4. Pack heavy items into small boxes, this will make them easier to move.
5. Dishes and glassware boxes should have a layer of padding on top and bottom and each item should be wrapped.
6. Leave space to reach the back of the unit and put frequently used items near the front.
7. Metal objects like tools and bikes should be wiped with a rag containing machine oil to prevent rust.
8. Clean all furniture, appliances and clothing prior to storing them.
9. Any items like clothing and fabric should have a couple of moth balls packed in with the items to help prevent pests.
10. Pack everything loosely and cover everything with old sheets.
